Sudoku on the Go: How I Solve Puzzles While Traveling

I never imagined Sudoku would become a travel companion. Yet, here I am, suitcase in one hand, coffee in the other, and a Sudoku notebook tucked securely in my backpack. Over the years, I’ve realized that Sudoku isn’t just a quiet at-home activity—it’s a perfect way to pass time on buses, planes, or even waiting in airport lounges.

Discovering Sudoku Away From Home

My first experience solving Sudoku on the go was on a long train ride. I had picked up a magazine at the station, expecting a casual pastime. Within minutes, I was fully immersed, scanning rows and columns while the scenery blurred past my window. There’s something magical about focusing on a puzzle in motion: the gentle sway of the train, the background chatter of fellow passengers, and the slow revelation of numbers fitting into place.

That day, I realized Sudoku could travel with me anywhere. No batteries, no Wi-Fi, just logic, pen, and paper. And sometimes, the unpredictability of the environment—bumpy trains, moving buses, crowded cafés—makes solving even more exciting.
